Kiekhaefer Awarded Patent On New Variable Propeller Pitch Surface Drive

The former head of Mercury Racing who left the Fond du Lac, Wis., in 2013 with products from Zero Effort controls to the Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4v) turbocharged engine series launched during his more-than-20-year tenure, Fred Kiekhaefer has been granted an engineering patent on a “Marine Surface Propulsion Device.” The patent for Kiekhaefer’s creation, which is designed for high-performance V-bottoms and catamarans, came through on Dec. 26, 2017.

Factory Billet Update: Dyno Testing With New Components

Coming off a successful Performance Racing Industry trade show last month, Factory Billet is midway through dynamometer testing of its turbocharged 1,650/1,950 flex-fuel high-performance marine engine with innovative Inconel headers and the final iterations of its water-jacketed turbochargers at its facility in Lake Zurich, Ill. The engine on display in the Precision Turbo and Engine exhibit at the annual PRI event Indianapolis was equipped with those components, which arrived at Factory Billet shortly before the show began.

Another 80 hours of dyno testing is scheduled for Factory Billet’s turbocharged engines.

MTI 340X Sport Cat Best-Ever Late Christmas Present For Delighted Owner

Proving that good things really do come in small—relatively speaking—packages, New Jersey-based Bob Christie is delighted with his new Marine Technology, Inc., 340X catamaran. MTI’s Tim Gallagher delivered the 34-footer, which is powered by a pair of Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines to Christie and his wife, Madelyn, at their second home in Sarasota, Fla., yesterday.

Wired Up Again: Nossaman Takes Delivery of New MTI-V 42

If the MTI-V 42 luxury performance center console pictured below looks familiar to you, it’s because it should. The latest 42-footer delivered by the Wentzville, Mo., boat builder matches Wired Up, the 48-foot catamaran MTI delivered in August 2016 to Oklahoma performance boaters Jake and Gina Nossaman.

DCB Tests First Mercury 860-Powered Boat, A Gorgeous M31 Widebody

Between a photo shoot and testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., the teams at DCB Performance Boats and Mercury Racing appear to be remarkably pleased with their first round of “dialing in” DCB’s first boat powered by a pair of Mercury Racing’s new 860 engines.

Adrenaline Powerboats Putting Finishing Touches on ZRX 47

The work-in-progress Adrenaline ZRX 47 was on display at the Key West Poker Run Village.  

For us—and anyone else in Key West, Fla., last month for the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run—it was cool to get a chance to see and lay our hands on the first ZRX 47 Carbon Series V-bottom from Adrenaline Powerboats.

Fully Dressed Factory Billet Engine Headed To PRI Show

Outfitted with its new Inconel headers and water-jacketed turbochargers, a fully dressed Factory Billet 1,650/1,950 high-performance marine engine (read the story) will be on display during the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show Dec. 7-9 in Indianapolis. The unique flex-fuel powerplant will be exhibited in the Precision Turbo and Engine booth during the event.
