Entertainment, Merchandise and More Ramped Up For Lake Cumberland Thunder Run

With the discounted pre-registration closing on May 31 for the 10th annual Lake Cumberland Thunder Run on Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland, now is the time to sign up for the event (and get 10 percent off your registration) that is being held at State Dock in Jamestown, Ky., for the first time on June 15-16.

In the past, Grider Hill Resort and Marina hosted the run. Along with the venue change, the event has a few new twists including a “gohaffers pot” drawing to raise money for people fighting cancer and children with life-changing illnesses. Tickets for the fundraiser, which benefits Shirley’s Way, will be available for purchase Friday and Saturday with the drawing held at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday before the Thunder Run awards presentation.

According to Justin Lucas, one of the primary organizers and founders of the Thunder Run, there is going to be new entertainment for Friday and Saturday night in the form of Coxx Events/DJ Ryan Coxx and Friends. He added that the event has stepped up the merchandise it is offering as well. Not only can you buy the T-shirts, tanks, hoodies, tumblers and more at the event, Lucas said you can purchase them in the event’s online shop. You can also get half off your order on all 2017 poker run gear by typing in SAVE50 at checkout.

“We’re excited to have Ryan Coxx locked down for the entertainment—he’s awesome,” Lucas said. “He’s such a great guy and he loves being around the boats. I think his team is going to add a lot to the event in terms of stage presence and sound.”

Lucas said this year’s event is outpacing past events in terms of pre-registration numbers so he’s expecting a good turnout. While he’s not promising anything, he thinks this could end up being the best Thunder Run yet.

Along with $5,000 in cash prizes for the top three poker hand winners, the event has plenty of cool prizes to give away, such as a one-of-a-kind 10th anniversary Lake Cumberland Thunder Run watch provided by Poundfoolish Watches.
